By attributes means a selection of things matching an attribute query, by location means a selection based on a geographical relation between two things (ie select all points that intersect the polygons in a different layer). There are two kinds of select - by attributes and by location. Here's a visualization of what I'm using: I tried Googling the answer multiple times over the past couple of days, but all I get are solutions of buffering around individual points - and that would produce over thousands of buffer regions. What is the methodology to do so, given a sample of the dataset below, using ModelBuilder and/or Python? (I'm dealing with over 38,000 points, and need only a handful of 50-mi buffer areas - basically around dense populations). At my work, I have to create a map (due, like ASAP) displaying few 50-mile buffer areas across the Pacific US (9 states), and a count of the number of points within that buffer region (also displayed on the map).
